Fire leaves 3 people without a home in Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — Three people are without a home after a fire in Middleburg.

Action News Jax reporter Courtney Cole went to the home and spoke with firefighters. Here is the information they gave her:

  • Clay County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene of the fire on Primrose Avenue at 3:59 p.m.
  • Three people no longer with any place to live.
  • Red Cross is assisting those three people.
  • None of the 3 people were home when the fire started; one person was just arriving home when they saw their home up in flames.
  • The man walked inside the home after a arriving.
  • He’s now being treated for smoke inhalation at St. Vincent’s
  • Firefighters don’t no why he walked into the burning home.
  • There were also five pets inside the home -- three dogs and 2 cats; 1 of the dogs did not make it.
  • Firefighters do not know the cause of the fire and the Fire Marshal was called to the home.
  • Twenty-one resources from CCFR were used to put out the fire -- 4 fire rescue units, 1 water truck and 2 rescue units
