ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Darryl Gray Smith was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to entice a 14-year-old to produce child sex abuse images and to meet for sex.

The 31-year-old was found guilty of the charges on Feb. 2020.

STORY: INVESTIGATES: Over 14,000 trash pickup complaints filed with the City of Jacksonville since Aug.

Smith had multiple conversations over text with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old. During the conversations, he expressed his desire to meet and sexually abuse the 14-year-old and requested sexual abuse images.

Smith did not know that he was actually speaking with an undercover agent from Homeland Security Investigations.

When Smith attempted to meet the 14-year-old at a restaurant in Orange Park in February 2019, he was arrested by HSI agents and officers from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
