Tropical Storm Nicole: Essential information for Nassau County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — As Tropical Storm Nicole impacts Northeast Florida, Nassau County has provided residents with the following information to prepare for the storm:

Evacuations have been ordered for Zones A&D

Nassau County has declared a local State of Emergency on 11/8/22, effective at 3:00 PM. A Tropical Storm warning is in effect.

Strong wind gusts are expected in our coastal areas starting today. Sustained Tropical Storm Force winds are expected through Friday morning. Secure loose objects and be prepared for possible power outages.

Marine conditions are very dangerous today through Friday. The flag is DOUBLE RED -High Hazard with rip current statement in effect. This poses a threat to all levels of swimmers. Residents are urged to stay out of the water!

Coastal flooding is expected. If you flooded in Irma or Ian, prepare for flooding during this event. The estimated potential for flooding is expected to be 3-6 ft.

If the damage you notice may be life-threatening or dangerous to public safety (e.g., live power lines down, large branches or other debris in the road) please call 904-225-5174 or 9-1-1 so that emergency personnel can be dispatched to secure the area.

The bridge is NOT closed

If you are stopped and told by a Law Enforcement Officer that it is temporarily unsafe to drive across the bridge, then traffic has been stopped until the hazardous conditions have passed, just like any time there is a hazard in the road. Obey local Law Enforcement Officers!
