14-year-old shot in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Fla. — The Lake City Police Department is looking for the person who shot a 14-year-old Friday, July 2.

Police say they received a 911 call about a shooting on SE Monroe Street. When enroute to the scene they saw a car speeding past them followed by a Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputy.

When the car was stopped by LCPD and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, they located a 14-year-old with two gunshot wounds to the back.

The driver says he was heading to the emergency room.

The 14-year-old victim was taken to the hospital by EMS.

Police went to SE Monroe Street, where the initial call was and found AR-15 and several shell casings on the ground.

Action News Jax is working to learn what condition the 14-year-old is in.
