COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol reported that a man died after losing control of his car and hitting a tree on Interstate 10.

According to a news release on the incident, the 61-year-old driver from Melbourne was headed west in his SUV. He attempted to exit the interstate onto U.S. 41, failed to negotiate the right-hand curve and exited the ramp onto the grass shoulder.
He collided with a tree head-on and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
FHP said that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
