A 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 27-year-old John Hinrichs of Lake City was traveling westbound on U.S. 90, the release said.
The Mercury crossed over the center line and traveled into the eastbound lane, striking the front of a 2004 Toyota Rav4 driven by 64-year-old Jane Kaufman of Lake City.
Kaufman was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said. Hinrichs had minor injuries as a result of the crash, but refused treatment.
There were no passengers in either vehicle and both drivers were wearing seat belts, FHP said.
