Lake City police investigating death as possible homicide

LAKE CITY, Fla. — The Lake City Police Department is investigating a death that occurred at the Columbia Arms Apartments on Oct. 12.

Police responded to a request asking for a well-being check on a 74-year-old male named Timothy McGaffick who stayed at the apartment complex.

Upon arrival, police found the victim deceased inside his apartment. His next of kin have been notified.

Based on evidence at the scene, the Lake City Police Department and Florida Department of Law Enforcement have now begun investigating the death as a homicide.
