Lake City police investigating suspicious death

LAKE CITY, Fla. — UPDATED STORY 9/28/2020: Medical Examiners in Jacksonville identified the victim as, 62-year-old Mary Frances Schroeder of Lake City. Police are asking anyone with information to call Investigator Gretell Bates at (386) 752-4343.

ORIGINAL STORY 9/25/2020: A woman was found dead on NW Raidroad Street in Lake City on Friday morning, according to the Lake City Police Department.

Police say they were called to NW Raidroad Street to a body being found. Employees of the Florida Department of Transportation Highway Maintenance Department told police they found a woman’s body while mowing.

When police arrived they, saw a woman lying news the overpass embankment.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Lake City Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were called to assist in the investigation.

Lake City police say they do not know what lead yo to the woman’s death.
