Family said Wednesday around 9:30 p.m., Maegan Howsare was leaving work at Popeyes. She was crossing Blanding Boulevard to meet her ride at the RaceTrac gas station.

That's when they said she was hit by a passing car, robbing 12-year-old Emma of her big sister.

"Seeing her in that hospital bed is probably the hardest thing that I've ever had to deal with in my life," Emma said.

Her family hopes more answers come out about this crash and the investigation.

Action News Jax has reached out to the Florida Highway Patrol about it but hasn't heard back.
