• Deputies searching for hit-and-run driver in St Johns County

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking for the community's help to find a driver who hit a woman in a Winn Dixie parking lot and left.

Sheriff David Shoar said in a Facebook post that the incident happened at the plaza on County Road 210 West at around 7 p.m. Sunday.

When the incident occurred, the driver of the full-size pickup truck, initially stopped to help the woman but as rescue crews and others came to the woman's aid, he drove off, according to police.

The hit-and-run driver is described as a heavy set man who's 50 to 60 years old. He was last seen wearing an orange jacket or sweatshirt.

Deputies say the woman who was hit does not have severe injuries and has been released from the hospital.
