Dog shot in crossfire in Springfield neighborhood

Jacksonville,FL. —

Surveillance video shows the moments a two-year-old Catahoula leopard dog was shot in a yard off East 15th street.

The dog named Jax was shot in the leg.

It happened in the middle of the day, several gun shots can be heard on the video, and Jax limping in the moments after he was hit.

The dog’s owner, Bonnie Greene was on vacation when it happened, her brother-in-law was watching Jax.

“I thought, oh my goodness he got shot. Is he going to survive? It was so scary for us. Greene said.

Jax survived but his leg will have to have his leg amputated.

Now Greene wants to know who shot her dog and said she does not feel safe in her home.

“It’s scary to me to even come home now. It’s scary to me to even sleep at night.” Greene said.

A neighbor told Action News Jax she heard the gunfire, at the time her young son was outside playing.

Greene said she plans to file a police report with police once she returns home.
