Driver dies after hitting another car head-on in Nassau County, troopers say

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A driver is dead after a hitting another car head-on Tuesday evening in Nassau County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. at Lem Turner Road and Gator Lane, according to FHP.

Troopers said the driver of a Honda Civic, a 52-year-old, was traveling northbound on Lem Turner Road, when he reportedly lost control of his car, crossed over into the southbound lane of Lem Turner Road, hitting a Ford Escape head-on.

The impact caused both to travel off the roadway, causing the Ford Escape to overturn in a ditch, FHP said.

Troopers said the driver of the Honda Civic died. The driver of the Ford Escape and the passenger were seriously hurt and sent to the hospital, FHP stated.
