Driver hits trees, transported to UF Health

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — The St Johns County Sheriff's Office homicide investigators responded to the scene of a single-car accident in St. Augustine Beach early Saturday morning.
 
According to an eyewitness, Todd Andrews passed him going west on A Street and lost control of his 2007 Ford F150 and hit two trees.
 
Police say the two trees were in the front yards of 503 and 505 on A Street.
 
As a result of the crash Andrews and his passenger, Jacob Pearson, sustained serious injuries.
 
According to the St. Augustine Beach Police, Andrews was airlifted to UF Health with possible life threatening injuries. Pearson was taken to Flagler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Police say Andrews was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
Officers tell Action News speed and alcohol may be contributing factors in this crash.
 
Charges are pending the results of the full investigation.
