152% increase in private and public investment in Downtown Jacksonville

Report shows a major increase in development in Downtown Jacksonville, over 152% in 18 months

Jacksonville, Fla. — According to the new state of Downtown report, in the past 18 months, private and public investment dollars in Downtown had a major increase with $530 million dollars in completed 2019 and 2020 projects.

According to the report, Downtown living has increased by 18%, meaning more people are living in new and existing developments.

More than 6,137 people live Downtown in 25 multifamily properties, the report says the goal is 10,000 people.

When Downtown Vision sent Action News Jax the report they pointed out data used in the report was gathered before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic, there were more than 20 million visits to downtown.

Downtown is currently in the middle of a multi-modal transportation project including a $50 million regional transportation center and $350 million innovation corridor underway.
