JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating five shootings that happened less than 12 hours apart that left one person dead and six people hurt.
Action News Jax has a recap of the violence that occurred Tuesday night into Wednesday morning below:
- On Tuesday, just before 5:30 p.m., a shooting happened at the BP gas station off I-95 on Edgewood Avenue West. A man, approximately 20 to 25 years old, died after being shot in the upper torso, police said. A woman in her mid-20s was also hurt during the shooting. “She is believed to have been in the store during the incident but unsure of her involvement at this time,” JSO reported. Police said there were multiple people inside the business and two or three people left after the shooting. Jacksonville police are working to locate them. Police are unsure of their involvement.

- Hours later at 9 p.m., officers pulled over a car that was being driven erratically at W 26th and Almeda streets. Authorities said they found a man who had been shot inside. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. There is no suspect information at this time.
- At 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, police said a man was shot on the sidewalk in a residential area on Lake Park Drive. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. JSO reported there is no suspect information at this time. Officers are working to find out what led up to the shooting.

- At 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, two adults were shot on Springtime Lane during a domestic dispute, according to JSO. They were taken to the hospital. The sheriff’s office said their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. “All involved parties are in custody at this time and the investigation is ongoing, " JSO said.

- Ten minutes later at 3:50 a.m., a man was shot during an argument on Nussbaum Drive. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. The alleged suspect is the man’s roommate, according to police. Officers say the roommate is on the run and he is armed. JSO said during the argument, both men grabbed a handgun. There were several witnesses who are cooperating with police. “No arrest have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing,” the sheriff’s office stated.
