Brush fire in St. Johns County under control; traffic back to normal

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Action News Jax confirmed a brush fire in the woods off I-95 between the State Road 16 and State Road 207 exits was causing major traffic problems on I-95 Sunday afternoon, but traffic has returned to normal on the highway after firefighters put the blaze under control.

Officials with the Florida Forest Service said they aren’t sure what caused the fire, but thought it could have been started by a lightning strike.

Roughly 10 to 15 acres were burned, but the fire is not under control
