JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Mandarin High School football player has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Duval County Public Schools.

The Department of Health has been on the campus conducting contact tracing and is in the process of notifying individuals who will need to quarantine, according to DCPS.

Based on the Department of Health’s investigation, the game scheduled for Friday will go on as planned. The impacted player will not play, according to DCPS.

Here is what went out to the parents:

Hello Mustang Family,

This is Principal Bravo calling to inform you that we have had two COVID-19 impacts on our campus. One of those is an individual on our football team who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Health has been on our campus conducting contact tracing and is in the process of notifying specific individuals who will need to quarantine from school and school activities.

However, based on the Department of Health’s investigation, tonight’s game will go on as planned. The impacted player will not be participating, but the Department of Health has given us the green light to continue with tonight’s game.

I will follow up with all of you again as soon as I receive official notice that the Department of Health’s process is complete and that all impacted students and staff have been notified.

Thank you for your continued support of our school!  Go Mustangs!
