Coronavirus Pandemic: Mayor talks about possible city wide curfew

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Federal testing site in Lot J at TIAA Bank Field wrapped things up for the day on Monday after hitting the 250 daily test limit. The Federal testing site has done at least 565 tests since it opened on Saturday.

More than 300 tests have been administered at the Prime Osborn Center, which is a City sponsored testing site.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry held his first digital news conference to practice social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.

  • Mayor Curry said he continues to see businesses “taking unnecessary risks” and has updated an executive order that would require businesses to let employees work from home if they’re able to do so.
  • Mayor Curry also said he spoke with Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams about a possible curfew. Mayor Curry said a curfew would put a strain on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He asked for everyone to stay home and practice social distancing, so they don’t have to enforce a curfew.
