COVID-19: Baptist Health asking public to donate supplies ahead of predicted patient surge

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Compassion for Caregivers is a new campaign by Baptist Health.

“The Compassion for Caregivers campaign started because people began reaching out to us to ask what [they could] do to help,” Cynthia Reynolds, the senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer of Baptist Health Foundation, said.

Now, the healthcare system is asking for supplies and monetary donations.

Baptist Health currently has enough supplies to last several weeks, but it is expecting a surge in patients and wants to be prepared, according to a facility spokesperson.

The healthcare system is asking for people to donate the following items:

  • Clorox bleach wipes (or equivalent)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Face shields
  • Goggles
  • N95s (or any equivalent CDC- approved masks)
  • Non-contact thermometers
  • Masks (surgical/procedural)
  • Isolation gowns
  • Disposable coveralls/painter’s suits
  • Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR)
  • Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR)
  • Other approved PPE supplies advised by the CDC
