Devon Gregory: Family asks for answers in 18-year-old’s death in officer-involved shooting

The family of 18-year-old Devon Gregory is speaking out about his death, calling for transparency from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The Gregory family along with almost a dozen civil rights activist groups held a rally on the steps of City Hall Friday afternoon, calling for an end to police brutality against black people.

According to JSO’s website, data shows 50 officer-involved shootings since March of 2016 -- 31 of which involved Black civilians.

The family’s attorney says the family has been trying to get in contact with JSO, the mayor, and other city leaders, but to no avail.

Action News Jax reached out to JSO for comment on the Devon Gregory incident and the numbers of Black people involved in officer-involved shootings. We are still waiting on a response.
