Driver flees after hitting Duval County school bus with 19 students aboard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Duval County school bus with 19 students aboard was hit on Thursday while traveling south on I-95 near Airport Road. There were no reported injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a black motor vehicle was traveling in the same direction as the bus when it lost control and veered into a concrete traffic barrier on the left side of the road.

The driver of the vehicle overcorrected and steered back to the right into the outside lane where the bus was traveling. As a result, the right side of the black vehicle collided with the left front side of the bus.

Afterward, the black vehicle fled the scene.

The bus pulled over to a safe area and waited for emergency services to arrive.

There is no further information on the driver of the black vehicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported another bus crash in Clay County on Thursday involving a construction truck. There were no reported injuries.
