Female unemployment increases during coronavirus pandemic

Woman made up 55% of job losses in the coronavirus economic downturn.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The coronavirus left millions of Americans without a job in 2020. Some of them are still working to find long-term employment that doesn’t put them at risk of getting the virus.

U.S. unemployment rate hit 13.3% in May, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Action News Jax found more than half of those unemployed are women.
