Free program promises to help employ thousands in 20 days

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As many employers struggle to hire workers, a nonprofit is partnering with the Jacksonville Jaguars and several other local companies to provide training so qualified candidates can get jobs.

The program is free and promises to help employ thousands in just 20 days.

Construction Ready is a nonprofit that promises jobs with local construction companies after participants attend its course. Right now, 18 students are enrolled in the current program.

These men and women are set to work on the Jaguars’ new performance studio coming to TIAA Bank Field.

Currently, there are nearly 2,000 jobs openings in the construction field in Jacksonville, according to Indeed.com.

Since 2014, the Construction Ready program has trained more than 1,300 workers of all ages for a successful career in construction. The average starting salary is between $13-17 per hour.
