Guidelines released for reopening offices

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The CDC released new recommendations for employers as their employees slowly come back to work.

Upon arriving to work, employees should get a temperature and symptom check. Inside the office, desks should be six feet apart. If that isn’t possible, employers should consider erecting plastic shields around desks.

They recommend closing off common spaces. Face coverings should be worn at all times.

The recommendations run from technical advice on ventilation systems (more open windows are most desirable) to suggested abolition of communal perks like latte makers and snack bins.

A couple of weeks ago, Action News Jax reporter Russell Colburn interviewed a local tech company who was designing thermal technology to potentially detect a fever. Now they have the equipment and are testing it with a local hospital.
