Lanes reopened on I-295 near I-95 in North Jacksonville after flooding, mud on road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5:48 p.m.: All lanes have reopened on I-295.

Part of Interstate 295 near Interstate 95 just south of the Jacksonville International Airport is shut down right now due to flooding and mud on the roadway.

The First Alert Weather Team is tracking heavy storms across our area and heavy rain caused what looks like mudslide at construction zone-major backups in the area.

The Florida Department of Transportation said motorists are encouraged to avoid I-295 Northbound (West Beltway) at I-95 in Jacksonville and find an alternative route. Law enforcement is currently detouring traffic onto I-95 SB.
