A Jacksonville area Uber driver was arrested, accused of molesting a teenager

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, 69-year-old Ingo Krieg was arrested for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old during a trip from Jacksonville to Baker County.

Krieg has been an Uber driver since 2014.

In the report, the victim said they had exchanged numbers during a previous Uber ride.

The 15-year-old told investigators that Krieg touched her inner thigh, made vulgar comments, and asked for sexual favors while on the way to Baker County.

According to the police report, Krieg told investigators “he would give her a ride to Baker County but wanted to exchange ‘a favor for a favor’.

When asked what he meant by that, Krieg said he “wanted to make love.”

We knocked on Krieg’s door for comment, but there was no answer.

Krieg has been an Uber driver since 2014.

Before that, he had a close connection to the city of Jacksonville, owning a professional soccer team called the Jacksonville Tea Men.

Action News Jax reporter Dani Bozzini spoke with a former city councilman who says he worked closely with Krieg decades ago.

"I mean, I’m shocked at the allegations. I hope they’re not true,” explains Dick Kravitz, a former Jacksonville councilman and state representative.

Kravitz tells Action News Jax he worked with Krieg back in the ’80s when Krieg was the owner of the Jacksonville Tea Men, a professional soccer team.

“The Ingo I know was just a standup guy that loved people, loved his family, loved his kids. So it’s really hard to believe, to be honest with you,” Kravitz said.

Kravitz says, “If he did say that, it’s still hard to believe. It’s very hard to understand why.”

In a statement to Action News Jax, Uber says “What’s been described is deeply upsetting and something no one should ever go through. We are cooperating with the law enforcement investigation and the individual no longer has access to the Uber app.”
