Jacksonville: Some city services impacted by weekend demonstration damage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The supervisor of elections office was closed Monday, due to busted windows and shattered glass doors.

The chief of elections officer said a brick was thrown into the building on Saturday evening, and he said windows appeared to be smashed by a hammer.

The coronavirus testing at Lot J and the Legends Center are also closed for “safety reasons,” according to the City of Jacksonville’s Twitter page.

Stimulus appointments for the Mortgage, Rent and Utility Relief Program at the Jacksonville Library and Ed Ball building scheduled for Sunday were also canceled due to protests and safety concerns.

Anyone who had an appointment scheduled Sunday and whose last name begins with the letters A through M has had their appointment rescheduled for the same time Saturday at the Ed Ball building located at 214 N. Hogan Street, according to the City.

Anyone who had an appointment scheduled Sunday and whose last name begins with the letters N through Z, their appointment will be at the same time next Sunday at the Ed Ball building located at 214 N. Hogan Street.
