JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville mother said she was surprised to see her son’s nose bloodied and cheek bruised when she picked him up from school Monday.
Ashley Manchester claims her 7-year-old son David was punched by another student at Pinedale Elementary School.
Manchester said she’s upset because she was never notified.
“As parents we send our kids to school thinking it’s a safe place and this kind of stuff happens,” Manchester said. “We question if they’re even safe.”

Manchester said she met with teachers Tuesday and was told they didn’t see any visible marks or injuries on the boy.
“I don’t believe it whatsoever,” Manchester said. “How do you have a child in your class and you don’t see they’re bleeding from their face?”
Action News Jax reached out to the Duval County Public School District and was told the incident appeared to be accidental in nature.
