Large police presence near Arlington Heights Elementary School

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED STORY 9/28 6:25 p.m.: JSO was called out to the 6700 block of Brandmere Rd South in reference to a victim being held at gunpoint.

According to police, the victim said her boyfriend threatened her with a gun during an argument.

JSO said they tried contacting the suspect through the phone and PA system and was unsuccessful.

SWAT was called in and able to breach the front door and make contact with the suspect.

The suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken to jail, police say.

Police say he was charged with domestic battery and had a previous warrant for domestic battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, and drug possession.

ORIGINAL STORY 9/28: There is a large police presence near Arlington Heights Elementary School.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, they were called to a home on Sprinkle Drive just before 2 p.m. for a domestic incident that involved a gun. Now, the subject won’t come out of the house.

The police activity put Arlington Heights Elementary School on lockdown as a precaution. The district told Action News Jax the students and staff safe. School police helped with car pickup.

Action News Jax is on the scene and has seen multiple negotiators attempting to make contact with the person inside the house.
