Jacksonville ballet teacher arrested, accused of exposing himself in Murray Hill

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested 37-year-old Savery Antwan Morgan for recently exposing himself in the Murray Hill neighborhood.

The 37-year-old works as a community enrichment director at the Florida Ballet of Jacksonville, according to JSO.

Police said April 15, they received reports of a person exposing themself in the Murray Hill area.

Multiple reports and social media posts then began circulating about the person. People in the post reported seeing a man driving around in a red Chevrolet Impala exposing himself.

Action News Jax reporter Meghan Moriarty went out to the neighborhood off Post Street on Friday to speak with neighbors.

One dad-- who did not want to be named -- gave Action News Jax surveillance video of a man standing outside his gate looking into the backyard. He said the man was masturbating. The vehicle in the video is similar to Morgan’s. The neighbor posted the video on Facebook.

More posts made their way around the internet, helping police track the man down, according to JSO.

Police were later able to identify the man as Morgan. He was arrested for the incident.

Morgan is now out on bond. He was released from jail around 10:30 PM Thursday. Moriarty reached out to Morgan twice by phone and went to his residence for comment. He did not answer.

Action News Jax also reached out to the Florida Ballet of Jacksonville, both by email and phone.

UPDATE 4/24/2021: Florida Ballet released the following statement.

“We recently became aware of an incident involving one of our employees.

“Upon notification of the serious nature of the charges, Savery Morgan was immediately placed on paid administrative leave pending resolution of these charges.

“The safety, care and well-being of our students, dancers, faculty, and staff is always our first and highest priority. All employees go through a rigorous hiring process which includes a detailed and comprehensive review and background check. The charges are completely contrary to the behavior and character demonstrated by Mr. Morgan in the dance world.

“We are saddened by this development and are taking measures internally to provide support to our dance family during this difficult time.”
