Man taken to hospital with critical injuries after shooting in Northwest Jacksonville

Northwest Jacksonville, FL. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says officers found a man who had been shot at a home in Northwest Jacksonville Sunday morning.

The shooting happened inside a home near Tusk Road and Vernon Roads just after 4 a.m.

Police say a man in his 30s was shot and taken to a hospital with critical injuries and three people were detained.

JSO says they don’t have a description of a the shooter at this time and no arrests have been made.

Action News Jax Jamarlo Phillips talked to a woman who claims the shooting victim is her brother.

The woman did not want to go on camera but says her 41-year-old brother lives in the area and was visiting friends.

Neighbor Makita Hunt lives across the street from where the shooting happened.

Hunt says she has lived in the area for over a year.

“Most of us are fairly new around here but a lot of us have noticed a lot of trafficking back and forth. You wouldn’t think something like this you would have to worry about happening so close to home and so close to the children. It makes you be on alert by being so close,” Hunt explained.
