1 injured after shooting in Springfield; Police searching for suspect

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting in Springfield that left an adult hurt early Tuesday morning.

Police said they responded to Ionia Street around 1:50 a.m. and found a person who had been shot at least once. The person reportedly was shot in the 400 block of Phelps Street and ran to Ionia Street for help.

JSO said that person was taken to the hospital by first responders and is expected to be OK. Their identity has not been released at this time.

“The only suspect description we currently have is a black male dressed in all black clothing, that was armed with a semi-automatic handgun,” JSO said.
