Teachers calling on Mayor Curry to increase DOH funding before schools re-open

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Today at 4:00 p.m., teachers, students, and family members are set to meet at Duval County School headquarters to protest the re-opening of schools.

“Duval for a Safe Return to Campus” and the “Duval Schools Pandemic Solutions Team will be hosting the protest.

This protest will be in two locations: DCPS Headquarters & Evergreen Cemetery

“Duval for a Safe Return to Campus” and the “Duval Schools Pandemic Solutions Team is asking for increased funding for testing, contact tracing and assistance for the Department of Health, with these tasks.

Alex Ingram, a local teacher, said they are headed to the cemetery as a symbolism of what could happen if students and teachers return to school too soon.
