Two Local Home Day Cares receive Class 2 Violations from DCF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two local home day cares tagged with violations from the Department of Children and Families. In this week’s Kid Care Report, Action News Jax News anchor Letisha Bereola went to both locations to see if they are back in compliance.

During its latest inspection, a state inspector gave Johnson Family Day Care Home on the Westside a class 2 violation, which according to DCF guidelines, could pose a threat to the health and safety of a child. The inspector noted the center was out of ratio. The director told Action News Jax there were some sick kids that had nowhere else to go. Five children were picked up by their parents to get her back in compliance.

The next day care in this week’s kid care report is also on the Westside -- Kirkpatrick family Day Care. The inspector noted the fencing was not safe and had sharp edges with exposed nails. The center received a class 2 violation. A woman answered questions through the door and said the fence had been fixed.
