Weekend events planned to celebrate revitalizing Arlington

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Friday kicks off a celebration of the transformations taking place in Jacksonville’s Arlington neighborhood.

Leaders of the Arlington 2020 initiative say this is just the beginning of bringing the area back to life.

The efforts to revitalize the area are the work of 40 organizations, including churches like Impact Church, which moved to the almost empty Regency Square Mall, as well as nonprofits, businesses, and even the City of Jacksonville.

Some of the strides to bring the area back to its former glory include the Arlington Community Market Pantry and the development that’s underway at the Old Town and Country Shopping Center, which is getting a new name – the College Park Shopping Center.

Action News Jax has provided a lineup of this weekend’s celebratory events below.
