Whitey’s Fish Camp closes for the weekend after employee tests positive for COVID-19

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Whitey’s Fish Camp in Orange Park closed for the weekend after an employee who worked on Sunday, June 14 tested positive for COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, Whitey’s Fish Camp said the person returned from a week off work and only worked June 14.

The Facebook post also says that a member of the band, The Remains, who played Saturday, June 13 at Whitey’s, tested positive for the virus.

The Remains played popular Mandarin bar Monkey’s Uncle Tavern on Friday, June 12, as well. But Monkey’s Uncle said in a Facebook post their doors won’t be closing, because no employees have tested positive.

“Obviously there is no way to be certain where he picked the virus up,” the post says. “So we are taking all precautions to protect our patrons as well as staff. Please practice safe social distancing as well as smart decisions. We hope to see everyone but everybody needs to consider this while deciding if you are coming to Monkey’s.”
