Duval woman shot multiple times during alleged home invasion attempt, according to JSO

A Jacksonville Heights woman is recovering after being shot multiple times outside a home off of Melvin Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

According to JSO, the victim's boyfriend stated he opened his front door to let her in his home when 4 to 5 males shot at him and attempted to force their way inside.

The victim’s boyfriend who witnessed the shooting spoke to Action News Jax but asked to remain anonymous. He said his girlfriend is recovering and expected to be okay.

He also showed home surveillance video of the attack, but for the victim’s safety Action News Jax waiting to show the video until it is confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO, the man stated the suspects ran off when they were not able to get into the home.

JSO said the female victim had gunshot wounds in her back and arm.

She was transported to Orange Park Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, but not admitted, JSO said.
