Local groups to host Water Drive to help Jackson, Mississippi

Jackson, MS — Three local groups are teaming up to help with the ongoing water crisis in Jackson, MS.

“I’m a Star Foundation,” Duval Schools, and Jax Parks are hosting a “Mississippi Water Drive” at James Weldon Johnson Park this weekend.

Action News Jax said last month, severe flooding led to massive failures at Jackson’s water treatment plant, leaving thousands without safe, clean water.

The goal of the local drive is to help get water to children under six and pregnant women in Jackson.

If you want to help, you can drop off bottled water on Sunday, Sept. 25, from noon until 4 p.m. at Weldon Johnson Park Downtown.
