Family of 14-year-old shot, killed by 11-year-old speak

A 11-year-old is charged in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy.

“He shouldn’t have been the oldest in that house. Them kids' parents should’ve been there. They should’ve been supervised, and my nephew would still be here,” said Christopher Hall, the victim’s uncle.

Hall has a lot of questions after deputies said his 14-year-old nephew, Jadon Vaughn, was shot and killed by an 11-year-old boy inside a Lake City home.

“I don’t even understand why he was in that situation,” said Hall.

The day after Christmas, deputies said Vaughn was visiting friends, 11-year-old and 13-year-old brothers. According to a report, deputies said after the boys were play wrestling, the 11-year-old went into his dad’s room, pulled out a gun, removed the magazine, pointed it at Jadon and shot him. Investigators said no adults were home at the time of the shooting.

“I hope justice prevails,” said Hall.

Deputies said after the shooting, the 11-year-old called his dad and told him that Jadon came at him with a knife. Investigators said the 11-year-old and his brother admitted placing a kitchen knife in Jadon’s hand after the shooting, believing they would be in less trouble.

“Lock your guns up. Keep your weapons out of the reach of children, or keep your bullets at least three steps away from your gun. They’re dangerous,” said Hall.

Vaughn's family put together a GoFundMe for the funeral costs.
