Fans grab discounted Jalen Ramsey gear at Sports Mania in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Buying a NFL jersey can be hard because you never know when a player is going to leave the team.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s jerseys are being discounted half-off at Sports Mania after the team announced Tuesday night he’s being traded to the Los Angeles Rams.

Vivek Advani walked in with his family Wednesday afternoon to buy one for himself.

“I thought he was going to stay but it is what it is,” Advani said.

Advani said he’s been a Jags fan all of his life. He was hoping Ramsey would stay around longer than he did.

“I will still be a fan regardless,” Advani said.

But the owner of Sports Mania said Ramsey left them with piles of costly, outdated laundry.

“We took a loss today and we’re going to deal with it like grown-ups and a professional business,” Mathew Smith said.

A total of 250 Jalen Ramsey jerseys totaling more than $25,000 are left hanging up.

“There is (sic) college kids that don’t have $100 to spend on a jersey, so they’ll come in here and buy Jalen jerseys,” Smith said.

But some Jags fans aren’t so happy about Ramsey leaving because they are now stuck with what they bought before the season even started.

“It’s just a sad situation for, I think, Jacksonville and the team. We got (quarterback Gardner) Minshew, though, that’s what I came in for,” Cyndee Hickson said.

For now, the owner at Sports Mania is riding the wave of Minshew Mania with positivity.
