Father arrested on suspicion of leaving child in car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A father faces child neglect charges after reportedly leaving his child in a car while working on Sunday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the parking lot of American Signature Furniture store on Atlantic Boulevard around 11:20 a.m.

A witness told officers the child had been in the car for more than 20 minutes.

JSO said the vehicle was under a tree, partially shaded, and the driver's window was halfway down while the other three were a third of the way down. Officers said the child was not in distress.

The father, 49-year-old Hamid Ahmad Ahmadzada, works for the store's cleaning company. The surveillance video showed officers that Ahmadzada walked into the store at 10:37 a.m. and seen leaving at 11:35 a.m.

The child is in the care of the mother.

Ahmadzada is charged with child neglect that does not cause great bodily harm.
