TROPICS: We are tracking an area of low pressure over the Northwest Atlantic that's likely to remain nontropical but will produce gusty winds, heavy rain and rough seas/surf for New England. Otherwise the tropics are quiet over the Atlantic while a typhoon in the West Pacific heads for Japan.
