Flight to Columbus from Miami made emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A plane headed to Columbus, Ohio from Miami made an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport Tuesday night.

An American Airlines spokesperson said there was a mechanical issue in the cockpit of Flight 3798.

The spokesperson said all 38 people on the flight are okay and were expected to finish their trip on a different plane and that this plane will be worked on overnight.

Debbie Jones with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority said that the American Airlines flight landed safely at the airport around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones said that preliminary information is that there was a depressurization issue.

On Monday afternoon, a Jet Blue flight bound for Nashville from Fort Lauderdale was also forced to land at the Jacksonville International Airport, after a sensor warned of a possible fire in the cargo area. The plane landed safely and local firefighters responded to check out the plane.  No fire was confirmed to Action News Jax.
