Florida attorney to file lawsuit on state marijuana law

Prominent Florida attorney, John Morgan, is bringing his concerns about the medical marijuana law to the state capital Thursday morning, filing a lawsuit because he wants the ban on smoking marijuana removed.

Morgan says the language in the original bill allows for patients to smoke the drug.

Morgan was one of the leading figures fighting for voter approved medical marijuana in 2016 and says Florida patients should be able to smoke medical marijuana.

Action News Jax reported when Governor Rick Scott signed a bill implementing the use of medical marijuana into law two weeks ago.

The legislation allows for 10 additional medical marijuana treatment centers to be opened by October 3rd.

There are 7 already operating and each company can have up to 25 retail stores.

For years Morgan, has been fighting for medical marijuana’s legalization, but he’s not happy with the implementation.

Morgan says under language in the legislation smoking of the drug should be allowed, so he’s taking he case to the state capitol.

Morgan will hold a news conference in Tallahassee announcing the lawsuit this morning at 9:30.
