Husband reportedly witnessed Clay County crash that killed wife

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Five people were killed in a crash on State Road 21 in Clay County Tuesday. Troopers say a car crossed the center-line on State Road 21 near Camp Blanding, hitting a woman driving alone head-on. The woman was identified as 22-year-old Chelsea Johnson. Action News spoke to one of Johnson’s close friends.

“It’s just surreal. It’s hard to comprehend,” said Karen Miller.

The emotions are raw for Miller.

Miller was hired around the same time as Johnson at Johnny’s BBQ about six years ago in Keystone Heights.

"When you hear one of your loved ones die, you don’t know where to go, so we all came here,” Miller said.

The restaurant's staff gathered to remember Johnson and even posted a message on the restaurant marquee that read “Chelsea You Are Loved and Missed.”

Johnson was just wrapping up nursing school and married her husband Ray Johnson Jr. in 2013.

“She just had the best time, loves, loves her husband so much,” Miller said.

Chelsea’s immediate family is asking for privacy right now.

Johnson posted a picture online from her husband’s graduation from the correctional academy in Orange Park on Tuesday.

Hours later, she was involved in the deadly crash.

All four adults in the car that hit Johnson died. Two children in the car are in critical condition.

Johnson's father-in-law posted a message on Facebook saying her husband saw the whole thing from a different car.

“He was right in front of her, the car went right between them,” said Charles Chaney, a family friend.

Chaney is getting Southside Baptist Church in Palatka ready for vacation Bible school. On Wednesday, the church hosted a memorial service for Chelsea.

“She was in heaven the minute the front of the car hit her. The Lord snatched her up,” Chaney said.

“The world will never be the same without her,” Miller said.

Many of you fb family have probably heard by now, but allow me to remind everyone of just how quick your life can be...
