Friends remember woman killed in motorcycle crash in Orange Park

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Friends and family are mourning the loss of an Orange Park woman killed in a highway motorcycle crash.

Troopers say Karen Moody was on the back of the bike when it hit the car in front of it.  Moody was thrown off and into busy traffic.

The deadly crash blocked off Interstate 295 near the 103rd Street Exit Wednesday night for hours.

Karen Moody, 45, a passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was killed, the driver, Samuel Green, survived with minor injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Alessandro Mondi works at Favre Motorcycle off 103rd Street.

Mondi says he knew someone was hurt when he saw first responders pass by.

"It just sucks, I've been riding since I was a kid. You don't want to see or hear stuff like that at all," Mondi explained.

One of Moody's close friends tells me she doesn't want people to remember her for this tragedy, but instead, for her life.

She sent Action News Jax reporter Jamarlo Phillips this statement saying:

"Karen was a great woman. She was happy always and there if u needed her, never met a stranger, solid chic...one of the best of the best...loved by many" – Robyn Vertzell

"Usually when there is a passenger, the passenger is the one that gets the worse of it," Mondi said.
Troopers continue to investigate, we're now waiting to learn if the driver of the motorcycle will face any charges.

"The whole biker community, nobody wants to have anyone to crash, it can be your worst enemy they don't want anyone killed on that bike," Mondi said.

Friends say Karen Moody's death is a reminder to the community to pay more attention to the roads.
