Glynn County commissioner, wife arrested for insurance fraud

A Glynn County commissioner and his wife were arrested Wednesday for insurance fraud.

Bob Coleman, 69, and his wife, Sherry Coleman, 59, two longtime Brunswick insurance agents, were arrested on multiple counts of insurance fraud.

A yearlong investigation revealed the Colemans allegedly defrauded customers who paid them for workers’ compensation insurance.

The indictment said there were at least 10 victims, and there could be more.

The people Bob Coleman represents said they are disappointed.

“He’s supposed to be there to help people and work for the people, but instead he’s stealing from the people,” said Cherry Hall.

“Not surprised, but I am disappointed,” said Charlie Brown.

Action News Jax reached out to the county and was given this statement:

“At this time, we are working to make sure that the Board of Commissioners is aware of the situation. This is a matter for the Board of Commissioners and our County Attorney to address and discuss next steps.”

Investigators are asking any business owner who purchased workers' compensation insurance through the Coleman Insurance Agency in the past two years to contact the state Board of Workers' Compensation Enforcements Division.
