This was after an officer was shot in the area.
“It’s just a sad situation all around,” said neighbor Tonia Houston.
Action News Jax spoke with neighbors who were shocked to see such a heavy police presence in what they call “a peaceful community”.
“My son and I were woken by some hard knocks on the door, and we didn’t know what exactly and who it was,” said Houston.

Houston started her Sunday morning with police at her door, telling her to shelter in place or evacuate.
She said she lives a couple of houses down from where it happened, and her ring camera captured what she says is police talking with a suspect.
“Put your hands up… we want you to come out, we want to talk to you.” “Please exit the residence through the front door.”
Tonia said this was just before 6 a.m., and that’s when she chose to leave.
