Jacksonville Beach sex battery suspect has pretrial hearing Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Tyquon Deon Jones, 21, on Jan. 1 on sexual battery, robbery and kidnapping charges after officers were dispatched to the parking lot located at 503 1st Street North for a report of a battery. He has a pretrial hearing Tuesday morning.

Case background

Upon arrival to the scene on the date of the incident, JSO officers noticed a white Audi driving with no headlights on at the intersection of 2nd Avenue North and 2nd Street North. They conducted a traffic stop, detained all four passengers in the car and placed them in four different police cars for interview.

The driver, told police that he recorded the entire incident on video and that another passenger, Jones, had forced the victim to perform oral sex. He gave consent for officers to search his phone, and when they did they found videos of Jones hitting the victim and calling him names.

During one video, the victim tells Jones he is sorry and asks if he can leave, according to the report. In another video Jones orders the victim to put his hands down to his side and he slaps the victim multiple times in the face. The victim then cowers and begins to cry, the report says.

In multiple videos the victim is being forced to perform oral sex on Jones at different locations on 1st Street North in Jacksonville Beach. Jones can also be heard in the recordings threatening the victim not to call police and that he would shoot him if he ran away.

Officers later reviewed city cameras throughout Jacksonville Beach, and one camera captured a portion of the incident. In this surveillance, Jones can be seen holding a cellphone and recording the victim being forced to do jumping jacks, burpees and push-ups in the Pier Parking lot.

Victim interview

The victim advised police that the incident began when he passed Jones and others near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Second Street. The victim wished Jones and the people he was with a Happy New Year, and Jones told him to "run [his] pockets." Jones explained to him that he was being robbed and that he needed to give them everything in his pockets.

The victim took off running toward the Sneakers parking lot, and Jones and others chased him down and beat him up. During the beating, Jones and others took two prepared cards from the victim.

From that point on, Jones and another individual held the victim for over an hour, torturing him and forcing him to perform oral sex. The victim told police he was scared for his life, the report said.

The victim told police he did not initially report the crime because he was scared that Jones and others would find him and hurt him or his family, police said.
