Hot, violent weekend in Jacksonville: Eight people shot in 48 hours

In a 48-hour period, eight people were shot this weekend in Jacksonville.

Two people died. And this doesn't include the mother of three who was shot and killed in the McDonald's drive-thru on Baymeadows Road.

The weekend of violence started at 2 a.m. Saturday when the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrived at Wacko's Gentlemen's Club. Police said a man had smashed his black Camaro into a vacant business across the street after being shot at multiple times by an unknown gunman.

A friend of the victim said he was shot in the head.

Two people were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.

The suspects fled the shopping center on motorcycles. Clay Deputies received reports of multiple people riding motorcycles on U.S. 17 in Orange Park shortly after the shooting, Jones said.
